Apple To Select Coretronic As New iPad 2 LED Backlight Manufacturer?

We've previously heard that Apple is looking to widen its parts supplier base. The latest development reveals that Apple may select Taiwanese manufacturer Coretronic is an additional provider of LED backlights for the iPad 2.
The source claims that Coretronic has bagged the iPad backlight module contract, and may soon begin to prove LED backlight modules for the iPad 2. Coretronic's LED backlight modules are used in a variety of products available in the market including but not limited to LED televisions.
Coretronic has been working with Chimei Innolux to provide backlight modules for iPad panels. However, Chimei was only certified by Apple in May, hence backlight units for 9.7-inch panels for iPad have been shipping to South Korea-based LG Display.
Those who had procured the iPad 2 quite early had painstakingly reported of LED backlight bleeding issues in the iPad 2. It only seems logical for Apple to pull up its socks when it comes to ensuring quality in its products. While the recent explosion at the iPad 2 manufacturing plant may cause shortfall of 500,000 iPad 2 units, we've yet to see Coretronic being confirmed as an official supplier for Apple.
