Apple Stores In US To Carry Official Unlocked iPhone 4 From Wednesday?
Monday, June 13, 2011
We've just learnt that it is possible starting Wednesday, Apple Retail Stores in the US will start to carry official unlocked iPhone 4. As of now, people use means such as software unlocks to unlock their iPhones. Officially unlocked iPhone 4 would put an end to this for may people.
There's a little drawback here though. Customers may have to pay a very high price for an official unlocked iPhone as compared to one on a contract, as the price of the iPhone 4 is subsidized by the respective carrier when it is bought on a contract. Apple is going to charge without any subsidy for officially unlocked iPhone 4, and that can very well be up in to a couple of hundred dollars.
Come Wednesday, and we shall see how much truth is there in this claim. On another note, an officially unlocked iPhone 4 can end the misery of those who can't part with their iPhones and have to switch SIMs often. We'll update you more on this, as it develops.
Unlocked iPhones headed to Apple Stores for Wednesday: MC603 (16GB, Black) MC604 (16GB, White) MC605 (32GB, Black) MC606 (32GB, White)This information was tweeted out by @chronicwire on Twitter. So if this tip is anything to go by, customers in the US will then have the option of buying an officially unlocked iPhone 4 instead of one that is tied to an AT&T or Verizon Wireless two year contract.
