Download Skype App Officially For iPad Soon
Sunday, June 26, 2011
It seems that an official Skype app optimized specially for the iPad is going to be available for download soon. Reports indicate that Skype will finally release the official iPad app this Tuesday, in the App Store.
We know that ever since the iPad 2 was launched, Skype has not released an official app for it which would capitalize on the dual cameras on Apple's tablet. The Skype iPhone app does work on the iPad, but since it is not optimized for it, overall the app does not look nice.
On the other hand, there was speculation that maybe Apple wasn't too happy about native Skype apps, as they undermine Apple's own video calling service, FaceTime. However, a Skype executive has claimed that Apple is actually been very supportive of Skype and its apps for iOS platform.
Word about the official Skype for iPad first broke out when a video of the new app somehow went live on its YouTube channel. Moments after that, Skype made the video private, but before that happened, it was already captured and uploaded again on YouTube.
Skype for iPad looks visually appealing with an easy to use interface and animations. It also comes with video calling support on both 3G and WiFi networks. Do check out the video embedded below.
