Apple Starts Test Production Of A6 Processor

According to Reuters, Apple has begun test production of A6 processors with the Taiwan-based manufacturer TSMC for next-generation Apple devices. As already reported, Apple will apparently move their custom chip production away from Samsung. In case you don’t know, Samsung is the company behind the A5 dual-core processor in iPad 2 and expected in iPhone 5 in September this year.
(Reuters) – Taiwan’s TSMC has begun trial manufacturing of next generation chips for Apple Inc’s mobile devices, a source with knowledge of the matter said on Friday, in a sign that the iPad maker is shifting from its traditional chip supplier, Samsung Electronics.[Reuters, via 9to5mac]

So, for what is the A6? Well, it’s most probable to be for iPhone 6 and iPad 3 which are expected in 2012.
