We know that a great amount of hype surrounded Mac OS X Lion before it was released. When Apple finally released Mac OS X Lion, the eight major release of the Mac OS saw over one million downloads on launch day making it the fastest selling Mac OS ever.
Mac OS X Lion was previewed at WWDC 2011 earlier last month. Lion brings over 250 new features to supported Macs such as LaunchPad, Resume, Mulit-touch gestures etc. Priced at $29.99 only, Lion is also Apple's cheapest OS. OS X Lion is available for download from the Mac App Store.
On its launch day, Mac users have downloaded over 1 million copies from the Mac App Store. While the previous release of Mac, Snow Leopard to be precise sold 2 million copies in its release weekend. Things are definitely looking up for Lion in terms of sale and its $29.99 price point definitely helps, if not the fact that you can get the latest Mac software right from the comfort of your living room couch.
Apple has also announced that it intends on selling Mac OS X Lion thumb drives at Apple Stores later this August for $69. Looks like OS X Lion is putting big smiles on the faces of executives at One Infinite Loop.
